Sung Wook Lee is President of SW Logistics Inc. Ocean Transportation Intermediary operating in Oakland, CA. SW Logistics Inc., has been in business in Oakland, CA since 2004.

Before SW Logistics Inc., Sung Wook Lee worked with for U.S. intermodal Maritime Inc., (est. 1987) another OTI in Oakland operated by his father. Mr. Dong Ho Lee was an Owners representative of Korea Shipping Line, that was later bought by Hanjin Line. Yes that was a long time ago.

Sung Wook Lee is a licensed Customs Broker since 2004. In this capacity, he has received trade delegations from Kazakhstan, Portugal, Brazil to explain US TRADE regulations, organized by the Northern California World Trade Center, a partner with the U.S. Department of State on implementing their diplomatic exchange program, the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

As an elected board member of Northern California Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association (CBFANC www.cbfanc.org), Sung Wook Lee currently serves as Secretary, Chair of Export, and Co-Chair of Ocean dept.

In this capacity, Sung Wook Lee has made lobbying missions on behalf of CBFANC and the Pacific Coast Council to lobby for transparency and demurrage issues in favor of importers and exporters with the Federal Maritime Commission in 2019-2020. This effort has ultimately resulted in the FMC guidelines for carriers https://www.fmc.gov/new-guidance-detention-demurrage/

Sung Wook Lee is currently an appointee to the Northern California District Export Council, a thirty-member Advisory group, and Non-Profit Lobbying Group advocating on behalf of the Department of Commerce.

As a appointee of the NORCAL District Export Council , Sung Wook has worked with the US Department of Commerce, Commercial Service to promote exports in Northern California. With expertise in the international logistics and customs regulations, Sung Wook has helped small to medium size businesses often serving the diverse minority community to connect with their countries with trade.

In 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Sung Wook Lee was part of a coalition of the transportation community wondering if we were essential workers during the shelter at home order. With the help of various federal, state and local governmental agencies, we were able to clarify and specify that transportation workers were indeed essential workers.

Sung Wook Lee is advocating for California Agricultural Exporters by highlighting the difficulties US exporters are facing during the peak season of 2020. Because of the incredible demand of containers from Asian countries to USA for imports, carriers repositioned empty equipment back to Asia. This common practice of empty container reposition resulted in US exporters not having enough containers locally to use for their exports. Without a viable way to export, US exporters faced a critical market failure of service by foreign owned carriers. NORCAL DEC, was able to conduct our own fact finding mission and present a position letter to the FMC requesting that the FMC decide in favor of US Exporters.
