Toyota Logistics honors Norfolk Southern

For the fifth time in a dozen years, Torrance, Calif.based Toyota Logistics Services has awarded the Norfolk Southern Corp. the TLS President's Award for overall logistics excellence among rail carriers.

The award, the highest honor given by TLS to a logistics provider, was presented to Norfolk Southern based on overall performance in customer service, ontime performance and quality for 2007.

Norfolk Southern was also awarded TLS's Excellence Award for ontime performance among rail carriers. This is the seventh time NS has won the award.

The Norfolk, Va.based Class I railroad transported 700,000 Toyota vehicles in 2007, including those originating from NSserved plants in Georgetown, Ky.; Lafayette, Ind.; and Princeton, Ind.

The Georgetown plant produces Toyota's Camry, Avalon and Solara. The Lafayette facility produces the Camry; and Princeton produces the Sienna minivan, Sequoia SUV and Tundra truck.
